Enabling automatic audience creation for G4A

Audiences in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) allow you to analyze campaign results more effectively by segmenting users based on their assigned variations. This makes it easy to compare outcomes across different experiences in your AB Tasty campaigns.

Automatic audience creation

When you’ve added a Google Property ID to your GA4 Push connector in AB Tasty, audiences are automatically created in GA4 as soon as you launch a campaign:

  • One audience per variation: Each variation of your AB Tasty campaign generates a dedicated GA4 audience.

  • Experience Variant ID: Each variation is assigned an Experience Variant ID, which is sent to GA4 and used as the basis for audience creation.

  • BigQuery export: If you have an active BigQuery connection, the Experience Variant ID is also exported there.

Audience naming convention: Campaign_name – Variation_name, For example: Homepage Banner Test – Variation A

are retrievable on GA4 from Reports>User>User Attributes>Audiences

GA4 audience workflow

  1. Connector setup: Create or edit your GA4 Push connector in AB Tasty, making sure to add your Google Property ID.

  2. Campaign launch: When you click Play, audiences for each variation are automatically created in GA4.

  3. Data collection: During the campaign, AB Tasty continuously sends data to GA4, and audiences are populated with users.

  4. Campaign end: When the campaign is archived, AB Tasty automatically removes the audiences from GA4 to help you stay under the GA4 audience limit.

The Experience Variant ID itself is not deleted and remains accessible in GA4 Explore reports and BigQuery exports.
